About this Event

To confront the climate crisis, the world needs a range of clean energy technologies by 2030 that are not yet broadly available and that carry a new technology premium. The window is rapidly closing to demonstrate and commercialize these innovative technologies, so they are available for massive scale-up to enable net-zero emissions by 2050. The First Movers Coalition, an initiative founded by the World Economic Forum and US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, Secretary Kerry, now with over 70 global companies and 12 Government Partners, is marshalling the world leaders to apply purchasing power to create guaranteed early markets for advanced technologies.

This session aims at bringing together in a multistakeholder dialogue, Australian companies across the hard-to-abate supply chains, and senior government officials to discuss how to accelerate supply of innovative low carbon technologies in Australia, particularly across emission-intensive industry, particularly near zero emissions steel, aluminium, transport and concrete/cement production.

The event will be hosted by Nancy Gillis, Program Head Climate Action & First Movers Coalition at World Economic Forum.
