Cost: $100 per person ($90, members)This is the third in a series of workshops covering the three most important elements in painting: value, design and color. And again, we’ll be using abstraction as a vehicle in our paintings, so we avoid the consideration of whether a color we’ve chosen is “realistic”. Not being tied to a known reference frees your mind to focus solely on the various properties of color and how to choose a palette for your work that achieves color harmony and expresses the feelings you want to share.
The workshop will introduce yet another approach to abstraction but will also include ways you can develop your own process as you go forward. We will review some of the basic properties of color such as chroma and temperature and how to utilize them. There will be exercises experimenting with various concepts for developing your own preferred palette. I will be working in oils, but the workshop can be done in other mediums as well. You may take this workshop without having taken Abstraction 101 or 102 which focused on value and design.
A materials list will be emailed to you upon registration.
