Abstract Painting Class: Joan Mitchell

Join us at Barge East for a vibrant, expressive evening of abstract painting inspired by Joan Mitchell.
Led by Dan Whiteson, this workshop explores Mitchell’s energetic brushwork, use of colour and her connection to memory, landscape and emotion.
Through guided exercises, you’ll create your own expressive compositions — drawing inspiration from personal memories, music, poetry or the natural surroundings of the gardens at Barge East.
With all materials provided and support throughout, the session is perfect for beginners as well as those looking to explore a more gestural and intuitive painting style.
Set within our rooftop garden by the canal, it’s a relaxed, social evening of creativity.
