Born in Ziguinchor, Senegal, Ablaye comes from a family of griots — traditional keepers of music, history and oral storytelling. His musical heritage was shaped from childhood by the sounds of West African instruments and by the influence of his grandfather Kemo Susso, a renowned Senegalese musician, and his mother Ma Awa Cissoko, a traditional singer.
In his solo performances, Ablaye brings together hypnotic rhythms, expressive vocals and the delicate, intricate sound of the kora, creating music rooted in the traditions of West Africa while speaking directly to the listener in the present.
This is not simply a concert. It is an intimate encounter with music carrying stories, memory and a sense of place across generations.

Ablaye's music carries the legacy of the griot tradition, in which music, storytelling and collective memory have been passed from generation to generation.
