Abiding in His Presence: Cultivating Communion with God All Day Long
About this Event
Abiding in His Presence
How can we cultivate an attentiveness to God who is always present in our world amid the busyness of day life? Using the natural divisions of time, we will explore how to begin the day with God, continue the day with him, and conclude the day as we go to sleep. In our time together, Dr. Tom Schwanda will include spiritual practices to guide our reflection and increase our awareness of and communion with God.
Tom Schwanda, is the Senior Fellow for Christian Spirituality at the C.S. Lewis Institute, Fellow in the Royal Historical Society of England, associate professor emeritus of Christian Formation and Ministry at Wheaton College, and visiting scholar at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He is an experienced pastor and has taught widely on Christian spirituality. He desires to revive contemplative spirituality from the Puritans for protestants. He is also the author of numerous articles and book chapters as well as four books, most recently The Emergence of Evangelical Spirituality: The Age of Edwards, Newton, and Whitefield and George Whitefield: New Birth to Enjoy God . He holds degrees from Durham University (PhD, 2009), Fuller Theological Seminary (DMin, 1992), New Brunswick Theological Seminary and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (MDiv, 1975), and Moravian College (BA, 1972).
