About the artist

After being raised on a soundtrack of vocal powerhouses spanning the likes of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Carole King and Eva Cassidy, Abi Farrell has been creating unforgettable modern soul records for the 21st century since 2018. Named 'an artist on the rise.. a considerable talent' by Blues and Soul Magazine, Abi is known for her effortlessly pure voice and lyrical dexterity and is swiftly becoming one of London's most sought-after young soul vocalists.

Abi's recent singles 'I Will See You Through' and 'Stepping Out Of Your Shadow', produced by Mitch Ayling of The Milk, have been championed by Craig Charles on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, who has dubbed Abi's writing 'proper northern soul for the 21st century'. Her sought-after 7" vinyl releases, comprising compositions that span themes of empowerment, ambition, self-doubt and misogyny, have been released on contemporary soul label Big AC Records and are consistently embraced by the global underground soul scene.

Though she has been captivating live audiences since her teenage years, Abi's voice has reached a greater audience of soul fans since collaborating with Big AC Records, founded by Nick Corbin and Sophie Heath in 2020. She has recently opened stages for Gospel/soul artist Izo Fitzroy, has headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Oxfordshire's The Big Feastival, and has performed sell-out headline shows at Pizza Express Jazz Club & Holborn with her 10-piece band. Her single 'Don't Follow Me', a social commentary on misogyny, was premiered by Robert Elms on BBC Radio London and subsequently saw Abi named Mi-Soul Radio's 'One To Watch'. In November 2021, Abi was invited to perform it on BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends, and delivered an emotional rallying cry against misogyny which prompted reams of new global fans to get in touch.

Fresh from her biggest run of UK tour dates yet with the Big AC Records Soul Revue, Abi is ready to play her biggest headline shows to date in 2023, with a string of new releases in the pipeline. The first of these shows is her very first headline gig in her hometown, Oxford, where she will be accompanied by her band and special guests The Snakebite Horns.
