Documenting the Wild – A Journaling & Sketching Adventure

Step into the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District and bring your adventures to life through your writing and sketches. This guided hike is about immersing yourself in nature, slowing down, and discovering the joy of documenting your journey—whether through simple sketches, thoughtful words, or a mix of both.

Along the way, we’ll pause at inspiring spots to observe, reflect, and create. Along the route, Kate (@kateamandaexplores) will share her personal tips, guidance, and quick tutorials on journaling and sketching, drawing from her own adventurous journalling experiences—including her recent journey through the Amazon Rainforest! This isn't about being an artist or a writer—it’s about capturing the essence of the moment in a way that feels right for you. Whether you're scribbling quick thoughts, doodling trees, or layering pages with stories, this adventure is about finding your own connection between the environment and the paper in front of you.

As part of the experience, you'll receive a themed goody bag with little extras to inspire creativity, plus homemade treats to keep you energized. The adventure will conclude at a cozy café, where we can refine our sketchbooks, share what we’ve created, and reflect on the lessons learned throughout the day. It’s a chance to exchange experiences, ask questions, and discuss how the landscape inspired our work, alongside book recommendations on art, nature, and storytelling.

No experience needed—just a love for the outdoors and a curiosity to document it in your own way.

As always, further details of this adventure such as kit list, route and itenerary will be released closer to the time of the event. If you are travelling long distances to this event (which is often the case), we highlighy recommend travelling up the day before and staying the night either at a local campsite or hotel in order to join us bright and early for the main event - this also gives you more time to experience and enjoy even more of the local beauty!

The ABC has been running for over 3 years now and a strong, vibrant, warm and welcoming community has slowly been built over this time.
