Boating Enthusiasts America’s Boating Club North Strand will be offering the ABC Safe Boating Course at Tidewater Plantation Amenities Center - Large Meeting Room, 1601 Spinnaker Rd., North Myrtle Beach, SC on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
This very important course is for new boaters, experienced boaters and those thinking of getting into boating. Topics covered are: Introduction to Boating; Types of Boats and Their Differences (what type of boat is right for you?); Boating Laws; Boat Safety Equipment; Safe Boating; Navigation; Handling Potential Boating Problems; Trailering, Storing and Protecting Your Boat; Hunting and Fishing, Water-skiing and River Boating.
While the training and presentation of the Course is free, there is a $40.00 fee to cover the cost of the book, the exam, recording fees, postage, etc. If the book is shared, there is an additional $10.00 per person to cover the cost of the exam and recording fees for the additional person(s). Two people can easily share a book during the class. Please bring cash or check.

Upon successful completion of the course, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will send you a SCDNR Boater Education Card showing that you have taken this course. The course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) making it recognized in most states.
We will start the class at 8:00, break for lunch at 12:00, resume at 12:30 and finish the presentation by 4:00PM, at which time we will review the course and answer any final questions. The Closed Book Exam will begin around 4:30 and we should be completed by 5:00-5:30 PM. Your exam will be graded as you hand in your completed test.
Since the class is a full day with a tight schedule, we suggest that you bring a bag lunch, as there are not many options to go out for a quick lunch. Doing so, we can stay on schedule, finishing on time.
