Join us as we partner with AARP to walk our neighborhood! This walk will help us gather data on the safety, accessibility, and walkability of our neighborhood.We will be walking a 1-mile route, identifying and documenting different problem areas within the neighborhood. We will be able to use the information we gather to make our neighborhood a more enjoyable and livable space for everyone.
A few of the things you will be helping us identify!
- Do we have safe spaces to walk? Are the sidewalks safe, accessible and presentable?
- Do we have enough crosswalks? Do the crossing signals work?
- Are drivers speeding or failing to yield?
- Are there places to rest, is there shade, and adequate lighting along roads?
Knowing where the issues with our neighborhood are will help us make improvements in the future!
We will meet at Sunny's Pizzeria (1801 S Walts Ave) at 4:30 pm on Thursday, June 4th. We will start with some free food and beverages before going over audit details.
