About this Event

“To Climb a Gold Mountain” chronicles the compelling journeys of four remarkable women of Asian descent, spanning from the 1850s to the present day. Their tales encapsulate themes of resilience and triumph, weaving a narrative thread that resonates deeply with audiences. Recipient of an Emmy award, this film strikes a chord with AAPIs, particularly for AAPI women, amid the backdrop of tragedies and hate crimes. It delves into the roots of Asian fetishization and sexism, fostering empathy and cross-cultural understanding.

In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, we invite you to a special film screening followed by a powerhouse panel discussion with special guest, the Honorable Assembly Member (r) Mike Eng, Executive Producer Dr. Alex Azmi and Chinese American Museum's Board President Gay Yuen, moderated by our very own, Marie Pascual of LA County CEO. Our aim is to cultivate dialogue, enrich perspectives, and inspire civic engagement, fostering a deeper appreciation of our diverse community.
