Brett Cassidy is a Calgary, AB-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, who spent the past decade honing his songwriting in bands across Western Canada before stepping into the spotlight on his own. Based where the prairies meet the Rocky Mountains, Cassidy’s solo work reflects a deep connection to place, community, and the quiet momentum of everyday life.
In October 2024, Cassidy released his debut EP, A Selection of Ballads from the Old Man River, a collection shaped by years on the road, late nights in rehearsal spaces, and the shared language of live music. Drawing from classic country, traditional folk, and the textural edges of indie-psych rock, his songs balance structure and looseness, inviting listeners into something familiar but still open-ended.
With guitar and banjo often in hand, Cassidy’s music feels lived-in and welcoming, built for rooms where strangers can stomp their feet together and leave as friends. His approach is rooted in a "stubbornly DIY” ethos, shaped by collaboration rather than polish, and guided by the belief that music works best when it brings people together.
Cassidy is perpetually touring across Western Canada, playing packed bars and grassroots festivals including Lie Low Festival, Eastern Slopes Music & Arts Festival, and Canmore Warm Up. Grounded but playful, reflective without taking itself too seriously, Brett Cassidy’s music celebrates shared space, shared stories, and the simple joy of showing up.
