Throughout the Middle Ages, clothing, and by extension, the fabric it was made from, was often used as a show of wealth. While sumptuous silks with incredible brocade designs can still be purchased today, those fabrics come with a steep price tag. A more economical (and let’s be real, a more FUN) way of dressing up garb is block printing. Used in period as well as present day, this technique allows the artist unending flexibility to create the exact *right* fabric for the project.
