To qualify as a Medical Review Officer (MRO) under the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and to prepare for the AAMRO certification examination, the following steps are required:
1. Basic Comprehensive MRO Training:
Purpose: This foundational training is essential for all new MRO candidates. It covers the fundamental knowledge and skills required for MRO duties.
Content: Includes an overview of DOT regulations, drug and alcohol testing procedures, and the role of the MRO in the testing process.
Requirement: Completion of this training is mandatory before applying for AAMRO certification.
2. Preparation for AAMRO Certification Examination:
Focus: The exam assesses your understanding and application of MRO responsibilities, including interpreting drug test results, understanding chain of custody, and handling positive test results.
Study: Review materials and guidelines provided in the Basic Comprehensive MRO Training to ensure thorough preparation for the examination.
Completing the Basic Comprehensive MRO Training is a prerequisite for taking the AAMRO certification exam, ensuring that all candidates have the necessary background to perform their duties effectively.
CME Credits
This program is accepted for 21.75 prescribed credit hours by the American Academy of Family Physicians and American Board of Preventive Medicine.
