Following the Southern part of the Royal Coast Track, taking in sweeping coastal views and ever changing ecosystems, with even an opportunity for a swim, this one has it all!
Our destination is the beautiful Burning Palms Beach and its lovely rock pools, best explored at low tide. This walk allows for at least 1 hour of exploring and swimming here.
?When: Saturday 18 December
⏰Time: Departs 11:30am (please aim for 11:15am meet) Low tide is at 3:14pm
?Meet at: Otford Lookout which is near Otford train station, or there is also free parking (take the Princes motorway exit “Lawrence Hargrave Dr/Helensburgh/Stanwell Park then follow to the lookout)
? Difficulty: Grade 4: moderate, 12km
⏳Length: 7 hours, including one hour lunch and swim break (return to cars at 630pm)
?Hiking boots: preferred, but not essential. CLOSED TOE SHOES ESSENTIAL
⛰Fittness level: moderate (steep 2-3 hour ascent)
?Nearest Toilet and Store: near Otford Station and the lookout is a café “The Otford Pantry” they serve incredible coffee and have a loo for you to use before you walk! alternatively there is a public toilet at Bald Hill lookout down the road.
What to bring:
? A small bag to keep your hands free and pack the following:
?essential medication and first aid
?3 litres of water (its summer!)
⏹A small towel in case you get wet, this is also good for sitting on at lunch.
?Food for lunch and snacks
? a hat
?Sunscreen
Optional:
?Battery pack and cord for your phone (flat batteries when you want to take photos suck!)
?Spare Dry Socks
?walking poles if you have them
? Cozzies for a very quick dip if you are in the mood for one at break!
What is Provided
?Your Guide has a current First Aid Certificate, First Aid Equipment, Emergency Beacon (PLB) as well as navigational skills and professional equipment.
*In the event of an emergency, participants are liable for medical expenses and ambulance fees. We do recommend participants have ambulance cover and should take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of themselves and others on walks.
Cost is $50, Limited to 8 (eight) customers, we figure its better to keep it small for a great day out!
