TANIA MURRELL EVENT JANUARY 20TH 2026
Communities Against Child Sexual Offenders have been in contact with the family of Tania and are pleased to say the family will be joining us on January 20th. Family and close family friends will be given time to talk about their time with Tania and the beautiful child she was.
On January 20th, 1983, six-year-old Tania Murrell vanished without a trace while making what should have been a simple, familiar walk home from Grovenor Elementary School for lunch. The bright-eyed Grade One student left her classroom that winter day and disappeared into the cold Edmonton afternoon, never to be seen again. For more than four decades, her family and community have carried the weight of unanswered questions and the enduring hope that Tania will one day be found.
As we approach the 43rd anniversary of Tania's disappearance, the Communities Against Child Sexual Offenders (CACSO) invites the community to join us in honoring her memory and reaffirming our commitment that she will never be forgotten.
Candlelight Vigil Details:
Date: Tuesday, January 20th, 2026
Time: 6:45 PM (gathering time)
Starting Location: Grovenor Elementary School, 10345 - 144 Street NW, Edmonton
The vigil will begin at 7:00 PM at Grovenor Elementary School, the very place where Tania spent her school days and where she was last seen alive. This historic school holds the final memories of a little girl who loved learning and looked forward to heading home for lunch that fateful day.
Following a moment of reflection and remembrance at the school, we will walk together as a community along the route Tania would have taken, making our way to her former home at 10426 - 145 Street. There, we will light our candles in a powerful symbol of hope, solidarity, and our unwavering promise to Tania and her family that her story continues to matter, that her life had meaning, and that the search for answers will never cease.
Please join Communities Against Child Sexual Offenders ( CACSO ) and our dedicated members as we stand together in remembrance, support, and hope. Every candle lit is a promise kept. Every person present is a voice saying: "Tania, we remember you. We will never forget."
