About this Event
Visit the capital of Normandy, with the wonderful cathedral, the Medieval Palais de Justice and the very special Maison Sublime.
Close to Paris, Rouen offers a delightful moment outside. Even if the city was severely hit by bombings during WWII, it still offers amazing sights and colorful walks in very charming streets.
One of the highlights is the Cathedral, one of the biggest in France. Of course, it is known all over the world thanks to the numerous paintings by Claude Monet.
Another amazing experience is the tour of the “Maison Sublime“, the remains of the oldest Jewish building, hidden underneath the sumptuous Medieval Parliament building.
After lunch, we’ll discover the Historial Jeanne d’Arc. Set in the magnificent Archbishop’s palace, several rooms recount the life of Joan of Arc, until her execution in Rouen.
On the way back to the train station, admire more charming squares and streets lined with colored half timbered houses. Behind a local church, we’ll have an eye on an eerie sight rarely seen elsewhere.
The “Aitre Saint Maclou” is former medieval ossuary, still lined with walls, like a cloister. Set up after the great plague in 1348, the cemetery has kept its original macabre decor and carved columns. It now houses a restaurant and an art center.
Last stop on the way: the dungeon. The only part remaining of the old chateau de Rouen.
The train leaves Paris Saint-Lazare station at 08:40 am (12€/person)
Return from Rouen train station starts at 06:01 pm (12€/person)
80€/person. Includes all museums, monuments and visits.
