A Very 1920s Christmas at Lauriston Castle: A Journey Through Christmas from the 1590s to the Jazz Age
£40
Step back in time and experience the sparkle and scent of Christmases past in the enchanting surroundings of Lauriston Castle. From Tudor traditions to the glamour of the 1920s, discover how festive celebrations have evolved through the centuries.
In this hands-on heritage workshop, you’ll:
Craft your own herbal bath salts inspired by vintage apothecary blends.
Assemble fragrant mulled wine sachets, perfect for gifting or warming your own winter evenings.
Create a traditional mistletoe kissing bough, bringing timeless charm (and perhaps a little romance) to your home.
As you craft, enjoy non-alcoholic warm mulled wine and mince pies, with music from the roaring 20s evoking the elegance and cheer of the flapper era, with nods to the castle’s festive past from the 1590s onward. Leave with your handmade creations, a sense of history, and the glow of old-fashioned holiday spirit.
The Historical Herbalists CIC portray traditional healers and medical herbalists from the Romans to the Renaissance, the Medieval to the Modern era. Dressed in traditional clothing of the era we bring life to the role of the historical wise woman and educate about the history of medicine. Although we won’t all always be at every event, there are 3 of us, all trained Herbalists. Between us we have training in the history of medicine, archaeology, social anthropology, botany, plant folklore, and traditional crafts.
