A two-day workshop in the Discipline of Authentic Movement - MoverWitness Weekend CircleThe Workshop
To begin the New Year with positive movement, self-regard and care, in this workshop participants have the opportunity to delve more deeply into their somatic experiences, feelings, images and memories.
Within these two days participants will be able to move as they feel moved to do, within safe and respectful boundaries.
Through the MoverWitness clear container of movement and language, somatic experiences are brought to consciousness and shared with a witness and fellow movers through drawing, speaking and writing. All processes take place in an atmosphere of care, good will and non-judgement. The purpose of the MoverWitness Weekend Circle is to enable participants to find movement that rings true to their own Selves, to develop conscious, articulate awareness of this and to experience themselves as clearly heard and seen individuals of a group.
We will be aiming to integrate experiences so each one can take away a greater degree of embodied knowledge into everyday life and contact with others.
The Teacher
Dr Eila Goldhahn was a personal student of Dr Janet Adler, the founder of the Discipline of Authentic Movement, for many years. Building on Adler's foundations Eila received (internationally) the first PhD in Authentic Movement, coining the term MoverWitness and providing new artistic and interdisciplinary applications and contexts for this practice. Her own book Reflections of Authentic Movement: Theory, Practice and Arts-led Research (Routledge 2022) expands on her experience of teaching and using Authentic Movement in dance training, visual art and film making, practical philosophy, retreats and in new systems of thinking in eco-science. Eila is a compassionate, experienced and knowledgable guide to those who seek to delve deeply into this unique 'utopian' method.
