Richard Hadlock was a beloved jazz figure on the Bay Area jazz scene as a clarinetist/saxophonist, educator, and radio broadcaster. His program, The Annals of Jazz, on KCSM JAZZ 91, is the longest continuously running jazz radio show in the country. Richard truly lived a remarkable jazz life studying with the legendary Sidney Bechet, owner and publisher of The Record Changer magazine, and his 60+ years in the Bay Area performing with icons like Turk Murphy and Barbra Dane. This afternoon friends and family of Richard Hadlock will honor him with and afternoon of music and remembrances.
Performing will be pianist Ramona Baker and the Clint Baker Jazz Band plus Le Jazz Hot Quartet with Paul Mehling and special guests.
Proceeds from the event will establish a scholarship in Richard’s name at the California Conservatory of Jazz in the woodwinds dept.
