About this Event

**Detroit, MI –** On **December 2, 2024**, the Preservation of Jazz Monday Night Music Series is proud to present a special **Tribute to Reggae Music** featuring **Roots Vibrations** at **Aretha’s Jazz Café**, Detroit's premier destination for live music.

This vibrant tribute will include two performances at **7:00 PM** and **9:00 PM**.

Tickets are **$35** and can be purchased through **Eventbrite** or reserved at the door.

**Roots Vibrations**, led by **Winfred J’s Julien**, will take the stage to celebrate the rich and soulful rhythms of Reggae music. Julien, hailing from Dominica in the West Indies, has been a driving force in the Caribbean and Reggae scene for over three decades. As the founder and lead singer of Roots Vibrations, he has produced and performed on eight original CDs and collaborated with some of the most iconic names in Reggae, including **Calypso Rose**, **Burning Spear**, and **Yellowman**. Known for their high-energy shows and eclectic mix of original and familiar Caribbean tunes, Roots Vibrations guarantees an unforgettable experience for every audience.Julien's philosophy is simple yet powerful: "The audience is our focus.

Each show is unique to the vibe of the crowd, and we play a mix of original and familiar music that keeps the show interesting and engaging." Their performances are a masterclass in Reggae music, blending island rhythms with a Detroit edge that only Roots Vibrations can deliver.**Reggae Music** has its roots in the late 1960s in Jamaica, originating from earlier genres like ska and rocksteady. With its signature off-beat rhythm, powerful basslines, and socially conscious lyrics,

Reggae became the voice of the oppressed, spreading messages of love, unity, and resistance. Pioneered by legends like **Bob Marley**, **Peter Tosh**, and **Burning Spear**, Reggae has evolved into a global phenomenon, continuing to inspire artists and audiences alike with its call for peace, justice, and cultural pride. The evening will be **hosted by Lucretia Sain**, who will guide the audience through this musical journey, enhancing the tribute with her charismatic presence.
