A tour around the city, told through its women.
Altogether Otherwise has teamed up with Berghaus to take a tour around the city and celebrate the historical female figures that made Manchester what it is today!
Inspired by the works of local geographer Doreen Massey, we’ll think about how women experience and travel around a city, and discover local women through history including some from myth and legends.
We’ll draw on the Manchester City Council’s cultural object review to think critically about the role (or absence) of women in the city’s public art, and discover changemakers, cultural icons, rebels, and ordinary women whose lives prompted tangible changes to the city’s streetscape.
Starting at the Berghaus store in the Arndale shopping centre, we’ll walk a loop of the central city area ending at Altogether Otherwise for a poster and map making session with Coyle Studio, exploring everything we learnt on the tour and how women exist in the city.
