Giacomo Nardi from Nardi Wines will be joining us for a taste of Tuscany in Seattle!
A little from Giacomo:
My story begins in Castellina in Chianti, where I was born and raised in a family of farmers.
My parents had their own agricultural farm, and from a very young age I grew up surrounded by the countryside, animals, vineyards, and all the daily work that comes with farming. I was lucky enough to experience this world firsthand, thanks to my father and my mother, and that is where my passion for agriculture and, later on, for wine was born.
After school, I attended the Agricultural Technical Institute in Siena, where I studied agriculture and specialized in subjects related to farming and the countryside. I graduated as an agricultural technician, and this gave me a strong technical background and a deeper understanding of the land and how to work with it.
After graduating, I spent eight years working at Castellare di Castellina, a very prestigious winery in the Chianti area, together with the renowned winemaker Alessandro Cellai. Those eight years were extremely important for me. I learned how to make wine, how to manage wine, and, above all, I learned how much work, attention, and passion are behind every bottle.
Then, in 2018, I decided to take a new step and start my own journey.
I wanted to turn my passion for wine into my profession.
At that time, I had an important starting point: my father’s farm in Castellina in Chianti, with around ten hectares of vineyards. My father had always grown grapes, but he had never produced his own wine. He was a grape supplier, selling the grapes to other wineries.
So I became the first person in my family to take the next step: to vinify the grapes from our own vineyards and produce our own wine.
It was a very important moment for me, because it meant taking something that my family had been doing for generations and giving it a new direction, while still respecting its roots.
Today, we produce around 28,000 bottles a year.
But for us, wine is not simply about producing bottles. Every bottle represents our passion, our philosophy, and our deep respect for the territory where we were born and where our vineyards are located.
We want our wines to tell the story of our land, our family, and the work that we put into every step of the process.
And this is, essentially, my story: I was born into the countryside, I grew up with agriculture, I learned the art of winemaking, and eventually I decided to bring together my family’s heritage and my passion to create something of my own.
Today, every bottle is a small part of that journey.
Join us for a beautiful evening celebrating Tuscany and help us welcome him to the Pacific Northwest.
