About this Event

Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky will deliver the 2023 Richard Gelwick Endowed Lecture for the Hobby School of Public Affairs on Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. in the Shamrock Ballroom at the University of Houston Hilton.

The lecture will draw on Chemerinsky’s expertise as one of the nation’s leading constitutional scholars to explore the current U.S. Supreme Court, with special attention to the three justices who embrace the originalist approach to constitutional interpretation. Chemerinsky will discuss his book “Worse Than Nothing: The Dangerous Fallacy of Originalism” and provide a comprehensive analysis of the problems that make originalism a flawed and ideological method for interpreting the most fundamental law of the land.
