Roy G Hemmings brings serious soul credentials to the Canvas stage. As the longest-serving former member of The Drifters, he spent over a decade fronting the vocal harmony legends across the globe, sharing bills with the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder and Roberta Flack. His solo show Dictionary of Soul is a rich, full-bodied celebration of classic Soul and Motown, delivered with effortless polish and deep musical instinct.
The setlist reads like a greatest hits of the genre, “Get Ready”, “Me & Mrs. Jones”, “My Girl”, “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay”, “Love Train”, “Under the Boardwalk. Expect nods to The Supremes, Otis Redding, The Temptations and James Brown, all tied together with Roy’s velvet vocal and signature finesse.
He’s performed at the Royal Variety Show and toured major UK theatres with the Hits of Motown series, earning a reputation as a refined showman with genuine roots in soul history. For lovers of sweet harmonies and feel-good nostalgia, this is a masterclass in how it’s done.
🕒 Doors open upstairs at 3pm, with artists taking to the stage around 4:30pm.
Fancy some great food before the show? Why not reserve a table downstairs in andwhynot where our chefs will serve our amazing Sunday Lunch until 3pm for ticket holders (6pm for other diners). Our Wood Fired Pizza menu will also be available.
If you are dining downstairs beforehand, please remember to reserve your table separate to your show tickets – and make sure you leave enough time to be seated upstairs before the show starts!

🪑SEATED TICKETS: £15.95 (£16.50 online, including booking fee)
🧍🏽STANDING TICKETS: £13.95 (£14.50 online, including booking fee)
'Seated tickets’ and ‘Standing only’ tickets are now available for most shows. A ‘Standing only’ ticket means that you will not be allocated a seat, whereas ‘Seated tickets’ have allocated seating all afternoon. We kindly ask all ‘standing ticket’ holders to respect the view of seated guests and request they stand near the bar during the show.
Tables for ‘seated tickets’ are allocated for 2 persons or more.
Coming with friends but purchasing tickets separately? Please call us and we’ll do our very best to situate your tables next to each other, however this is not guaranteed.
Please note, due to seating plans, we only have a limited number of tables for two available.

Cancellation Policy
If your plans change, we will do our best to resell any tickets offered back to us prior to the show. If you have spare tickets, contact us first before attempting to resell on social media—we may have a waiting list! Please note resale tickets are not guaranteed, and we are not liable for any refunds/credits if tickets do not resell. No refunds for Covid-19 related cancellations.
