The professional singers of the Tallis Consort will return to Liverpool Parish Church following their successful debut in the city earlier this year.Bask in the beautiful harmonies from two of classical music’s greats. From the timeless Requiem of Gabriel Fauré (featuring solos from our young singers) to a brand-new transcription of Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending for solo violin and choir.
In a Tallis Consort first, we are delighted to be accompanied by multiple instruments courtesy of regular accompanist (and former Beverley Minster Organist) Ian Seddon (organ & piano), and a particular welcome to the immensely talented Anita Naughton (violin), who performs with ensembles such as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, The Halle, and the BBC Philharmonic.
To conclude, the combined musicians will join forces in a specially-written arrangement of Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music for choir, piano, and violin - a perfect conclusion for a summer’s afternoon.
About us
A unique ensemble, the Tallis Consort brings together the finest professional singers in the United Kingdom. We aim to create invaluable performance opportunities by bridging the gap between young singers and professionals in a supportive yet enjoyable environment.
The Tallis Consort was conceived in 2017 by Chris Why, who has directed and managed the ensemble since its birth. From the outset, Chris placed great significance on supporting the next generation of young singers whilst maintaining the highest possible standards.
The consort is entirely unfunded and relies on the financial viability of its concerts to flourish, and its musicians do not take any fees for their work. Our ethos is love, passion, and friendship, which we trust you will witness from our devotion to the quality of music-making and ever-increasing standards.
