Eastern Shoshone. Wind River. Blood of Chief Washakie.
Taught at five by her grandmother. Her grandmother was an NEA National Heritage Fellow.
She paints on the paper the government used to count us. Freight books. Trade charges. She leaves the ink showing and stands a Shoshone woman right on top of it.
Loved in Indian Country. Collected fiercely, and privately, before a museum ever got the chance.
Almost never on a gallery wall.
