Join Mike Brown Contemporary for a performance and discussion with Roni Nicole Henderson-Day as she explores grief and celebration through text and movement to accompany her solo exhibition -The Art of Forgetting, Roni Nicole Henderson-Day (b. 1979 USA) is a Columbia, SC-based writer, filmmaker, and photographer. She earned her MFA in Film and Television at Savannah College of Art and Design. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and film festivals across the country and internationally including Spelman Museum, Leonard Pearlstein, MOCA GA, Blackstar Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, The Barnes Foundation, and the Columbia Museum of Art. Henderson-Day’s photography was published in the 2018 release, MFON: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora and in 2017, she self-published a memoir entitled Of Grace and Moons: The Making of Grace.
Henderson-Day recently celebrated her first solo photography and video exhibition, Solace, at the Sumter County Gallery of Art. A multi-hyphenate on a production set, she has produced, written and edited for both long and short form broadcast projects, as well as concert films and multi-channel projection installations. Roni is a 2025 recipient of the Mellon Monuments Fellowship through Wideman-Davis Dance, and is developing a multi-channel projection and performance work entitled, Quiet Storm w/ Roni Love, a storytelling/live radio show performance premiering in the Spring of 2025.
