A Sober, Safe, & Sexy Dance Party

First and foremost we honour and acknowledge that 328 West Hastings Street is situated on the traditional ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples. This includes the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm) Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh) and Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ) Nations.

These territories have been stewarded by these Nations for thousands of years and remain deeply connected to their culture traditions and community today.

MISSION & ELEMENTS:

This is more than an event. We are growing a consent-focused kind and your-sexy community where all Identities are safe to be their true expression of Self. This is a Sober and Safe event.

Learn consent tools in our gentle and fun Pleasurable Consent PlayShops & then enjoy awesome tunes and vibes to practice these skills in our sober community dance party. 

We plan to host these opportunities monthly and encourage community feedback collaboration and support to grow a sober consent community that shares our collective knowledge and skills on and off the dance floor!

This is a holiday themed event and we welcome costumes and crazy outfits. Feel free to go as sexy or not as you want! Wanna strip down into you fun holiday underwear without being creeped upon then this is the safe place to do it. Please remember that these events are focused around consent and people will be asked to leave if these values are violated.

StarFyre 💫❤️‍🔥 aka Colin Fox:

For over 25 years I’ve been dedicated to consensually modelling supporting and energetically providing heart-focused dance/somatic movement 👍.  My purpose is to hold a safe container while heart~bombing the dance floor which empowers our bodies to uniquely express our core selves release limitations and build self confidence 🙌!

Harry aka Chutney Spears is a drag artist who focuses on very theatrical and expressive performances often mashing up different music genres and tastes. With a Scottish/Indian background they have drawn inspiration from a wide variety of cultures and characters.

EVENT FLOW:

7pm: Doors Open, mocktails, meet and greet, social time

730pm: Pleasurable Consent Playshop - we will focus on introducing consent based concepts to get people powerful with tuning into their bodies and being able to say yes or no comfortably and confidently. And how to receive a no and be thankful for that no.

8pm: MC Chutney Spears Performance tips & StarFyre’s Spontaneous Dance Battle demo

815pm: Dance Party & opportunity to friendly dance battle, enjoy refreshments, dance in safety, and socialize with good folks

945pm: Awards ceremony and closing circle. Awards will be voted and given for Best Costume, Best Drag, Best Technical Dancer, Best Freestyle Dancer, Best Battle Dancer, Best Comedian, Best Vibe, & Most Gentle categories.

10pm: The End

PLEASE RESPECT AND BE AWARE:

All participants are requested to be sober for the entire event. There is a smoking area where tobacco and non cannabis products can be used. 

Mocktails and water will be available at the bar and please don’t bring anything to drink (including water) for this event thank you! To respect the event’s container there will be no ins and outs. If you need to leave before the event is finished please do so with minimal impact to the other participants thank you.
