About this Event
The foundation stone of Cardinal College was laid on 15th July 1525 by John Longland, Bishop of Lincoln. This special 500th anniversary conference brings together a panel of experts to explore the origins, creation and intellectual landscape of Thomas Wolsey’s Cardinal College: from the priory of Augustinian canons founded c. 1120 and dedicated to St Frideswide, Canterbury College and Wolsey’s collegiate foundation.
Booking is essential. Registration includes refreshments (not lunch): £15; £5 concessions (for University of Oxford staff and alumni, and those over 65); free for students of any institution and those who are unemployed. Proof of eligibility must be presented with your ticket when you visit.
* Lunch is not provided but can be easily found in the city centre.
** We regret that access to the Upper Library is by a large spiral staircase only and may cause difficulty for anyone with limited mobility.
