The presents a , immersive living history experience, A Revolution of Her Own!™ Deborah Sampson on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mill Hill Historic Park - Town House, 2 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT.
The exclusive event features History At Play™, LLC Founder and Artistic Director Judith Kalaora in an immersive solo performance chronicling the life of Deborah Sampson, the first woman to successfully enlist, fight professionally, and be honorably discharged from the American military.
Born into a world in which women could not vote or own property, Sampson faced limited opportunities from an early age. Indentured as a servant by age five, she later educated herself, worked as a schoolmarm, and spent years performing physically demanding farm labor.
In the final years of the Revolutionary War, Sampson bound her chest, tied back her hair, dressed in men’s clothing, and enlisted in the Fourth Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Army under the alias “Robert Shurtlieff.”
Through interactive storytelling and authentic colonial attire, Kalaora transports audiences into Sampson’s world, exploring her arduous upbringing, one and a half years of active combat, and groundbreaking success as a female professional soldier.
The performance runs approximately 60 minutes and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Light refreshments are included.s as you step back in time for this engaging living history experience.

History At Play, LLC was founded in 2010 to chronicle the lives of influential and often forgotten women. Founder & Artistic Director Judith Kalaora is a professional educator, award-winning playwright, and living historian. She graduated Magna cum Laude from Syracuse University and attended the Globe Education program at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, London, England.
