A Reading and Fundraiser to Support Baltimore Books Through Bars
About this Event
In February, Baltimore Books Through Bars launched its efforts to provide free books to people incarcerated in Maryland. They've expanded steadily since then, and we're gathering again this October to keep the momentum going.
Join us on Wednesday, October 7th, for an evening with acclaimed incarcerated journalist and author Kwaneta Harris, whose writing in Rolling Stone, The Boston Globe, Teen Vogue, and elsewhere has brought national attention to the realities of life behind bars. Because Kwaneta remains incarcerated, the event will feature a live reading of selections from her work, followed by a recorded Q&A in which she reflects on her writing and the role of books in Pr*son.
This event benefits Baltimore Books Through Bars, a volunteer organization that provides free books to people incarcerated in Maryland. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase books and donate funds to cover postage, ensuring that more people behind bars have access to the education, relief, and human connection that reading provides.
