City Theatre Austin is proud to present the unforgettable production of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Lisa Jordan. Called “a milestone in American theatre,” this presentation marks the 67th anniversary of the show’s groundbreaking Broadway opening and is part of the 2026 Austin Juneteenth Celebration.

A milestone in the American theatre, this intensely emotional drama chronicles how a financial windfall touches the lives of a Black family in Chicago in the late fifties. As the simple desire for a home of their own becomes the touchstone of heartbreak, sacrifice, trust, and love, their story is a heroic struggle to hold a broken world together. Part of the 2026 Austin Juneteenth Celebration.
