Presented by SABI Mind, the screening will take place at The Globe Cinema. Doors open at 6:30pm with film starting at 7:00pm. A virtual 30-minute Q&A with filmmaker Connie Littlefield will take place at the end of film; moderated by Philippe Lucas PhD, President of SABI Mind.

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be divided between the Shulgin Collection Archiving Project at Erowid & SABI New Wholeness Fund.

ABOUT BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY

Filmmaker Connie Littlefield’s feature documentary on psychedelic pioneers Ann and Sasha Shulgin has been 20 years in the making. Sasha Shulgin (1925 – 2014) was a chemist who discovered nearly 200 psychedelic substances, including MDMA. His wife and co-author, Ann Shulgin (b. 1931), is a lay therapist and a pioneer in the field of psychedelic psychotherapy. They live(d) in Lafayette, California, near Berkeley. Their house and Sasha’s lab are on a few acres known as “The Shulgin Farm.”

This film is an intimate portrait of a couple’s love and the parallel world of their psychedelic experiments over the years.

“Stippled with spirituality, sadness, and skepticism, the Shulgins’ chemical love story examines the power of psychedelic psychotherapy, sacred alchemy, and challenging the path of misunderstood resistance.” – Calgary Underground Film Festival

ABOUT THE SHULGIN COLLECTION ARCHIVING PROJECT EROWID

Project Erowid supports the work of Alexander and Ann Shulgin, well-known elders who worked in the field of psychoactive research for decades. Their detailed experience reports about a wide variety of substances, as well as notes on chemical processes, formulas, sketches, and hand-drawn graphs. Funding will go towards helping to organize this large collection of primary and secondary materials, as well as making these materials public.

ABOUT THE SABI NEW WHOLENESS FUND

The SABI New Wholeness Fund aims to improve access to chronic pain and mental health care for members of historically underserved, underrepresented or low income patient populations by reducing financial barriers.
