A Practice: Alone/Together

When: October 23rd Saturday at 3pm and 4:30pm

We individual artists Amy; performance artist and Sayoko; movement artist re-met through other project after the pandemic. We started sharing thoughts and experiences living in NYC as immigrant women and decided to created a movement performance together experimenting different ideas. One of the ideas that we came up with was "Alone and Together". We asked ourselves questions " Can you have the most intimate relationship with absolute stranger? " Hmmm it's tricky isn't it? We would like you to think this question through while you are watching our show.

Little bit of ourselves

Amy is a performance artist from Taiwan. Influenced by the training she had with SITI Company, she is interested in exploring the continuity and discontinuity between movement and text. She recently expanded her theater practice to puppetry and was having fun making and moving with inanimate objects.

Sayoko was born and raised in a small neighborhood in Japan. She has always been passionate about creativity. She majored in fashion in college but that never limited her to expand her work in different art forms. Since moving to NYC her passion has shifted to dance/movement. To date, she has performed in various shows in NYC as a movement artist. During the pandemic, she also started her sustainable fashion art brand Sayoko Creations and currently works as an independent fashion movement artist.

As we mentioned this is a work in progress showing, after the performance we will have Q& A session and we would appreciate if all of you could join to share thoughts.
