A Post Office That's a Palace: Details Concerning the Magnificent Structure Uncle Sam Has Built in San Francisco (Title of Sunset Magazine Article 1905)
The James R. Browning U.S. Courthouse is considered one of the nation’s most beautiful public buildings. The building, opened in 1905, was designed by U.S. Treasury architects, led by Supervising Architect James Knox Taylor, and reflects Beaux Arts classicism on the exterior with elaborate mosaics and vaulted ceilings on the interior. Few public buildings in this country have such an air of splendor and magnificence. We hope you'll join us for a tour.
