Each one will highlight someone from our Greater Cincinnati region, sharing his/her personal story of life lessons and empowerment.

OCTOBER 7 - FEATURED STORYTELLER

Chris Pinelo is a storyteller, communicator, strategist and Cincinnati enthusiast. A member of Leadership Class 41, his career has seen him in communication and development leadership roles with organizations including over a decade as VP of Communications for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (at a time of significant organization growth), followed by Community Relations and Education Foundation Strategist for Great Oaks Career Campuses, and and his new role as Director of Development for Academic Affairs at the University of Cincinnati Foundation starting September 15.

A graduate of Highlands High School, Oberlin College, and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Chris is a board member of Friends of Music Hall (where he is co-chairing the upcoming 150th anniversary celebration in 2028).

He is the proud son of a Cuban refugee; and the proudest of fathers to three beautiful children and husband to his wonderful wife.

IT WAS IN 2019, JUST TWO DAYS AFTER CHRISTMAS, WHEN HIS LIFE PATH ALMOST CAME TO AN END…

BUT it didn’t.

Chris’ Apple Watch alerted him to seek medical attention for atrial fibrillation. At Christ Hospital, it was discovered he had the flu and pneumonia and was admitted. An administered blood thinner caused massive internal hemorrhaging. Chris went into shock and wound up on a ventilator in an induced coma with only a 5% chance of survival.

Forty days later, he miraculously came home to his family with a changed perspective on life and an understanding that you never take anything for granted.

Chris will inspire you to see life differently, to appreciate the moments and the people in your life.
