Choirs for Change is proud to present A Place in the Sun, a concert experience with Astra and featuring the Halifax Ukrainian Children's Choir. This concert continues our season-long exploration of the theme of displacement, with music inspired by the vision of seeing the sun rise after a difficult night. The choir will find a place to call home: a safe resting spot after a long and trying journey. They will invite audience members into a feeling of community, connection, and being good neighbours.
The programme features music by Moira Smiley, Katerina Gimon, Andrew Balfour, and Old Man Luedecke. Astra will be joined by the Halifax Ukrainian Children's Choir, who will be performing a set called "Ukrainian Spring Mystery," a traditional Ukrainian Vesnyankas (spring song) with movement and storytelling.
