A Night at the Movies with Organist Richard Hills
About this Event
A Night at the Movies with Organist Richard Hills
Step into the golden age of cinema for a spectacular evening of film, music and theatre organ magic at Belfast Cathedral.
We are delighted to welcome renowned theatre organist Richard Hills to St Anne’s Cathedral for a very special Night at the Movies, featuring some of the most memorable themes from the silver screen, performed on the Cathedral’s magnificent Harrison & Harrison organ.
The evening will culminate in a screening of the classic 1925 silent film The Phantom of the Opera, starring the legendary Lon Chaney, accompanied live and entirely improvised by Richard Hills on the organ. Just as audiences would have experienced silent cinema a century ago, the music will respond moment-by-moment to the drama unfolding on screen.
Expect thrills, romance, drama, comedy and plenty of musical fireworks — all within the extraordinary surroundings of Belfast Cathedral.
Whether you are a film enthusiast, an organ lover, or simply looking for a memorable night out, A Night at the Movies promises an unforgettable evening of cinema brought vividly to life through the power of the organ.
