Rodrigo’s instantly recognisable and beloved guitar concerto adds Spanish sunshine to Viennese decadence, its famous slow movement a gorgeous moment of calm amongst the hurly-burly, the Iberian dance rhythms of outer movements every bit as spritely as the music produced by Johann Strauss II and his contemporaries.
