About this Event
Join us for A New Path for Beauty: Shaping Tomorrow's Institutions, the second annual conference on art and philosophy hosted by the Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation in partnership with the Mathias Corvinus Collegium. This event will take place from 5-7 September 2024 at the historic Peterhouse, University of Cambridge, offering a unique blend of scholarly enquiry and artistic exploration.
This year's theme addresses the challenges facing our art institutions—from decolonisation initiatives and diversity mandates to political art and vandalism. A New Path for Beauty proposes a visionary alternative, building upon Sir Roger Scruton's philosophy and grounding the future of our cultural institutions in beauty, artistic excellence, and creative free expression. The programme includes keynote addresses from leading figures in the arts and public life, as well as panels and discussions on visual arts, performing arts, public art and architecture, the economics of art, and cultural heritage preservation.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we are also excited to offer a fellowship programme for young artists, academics, and professionals from around the world, providing free accommodation, meals, and registration to ensure emerging voices have a platform at this critical juncture for art and culture. Overnight accommodations will be available at a nearby college for all attendees, allowing you to fully experience the conference and the historic beauty of Cambridge.
A New Path for Beauty: Shaping Tomorrow's Institutions is more than a conference—it’s a call to action to redefine the landscape of the West’s cultural institutions. Join us in this vital journey to champion beauty and excellence in art and culture.
