The Programme

Harpist Fiona-Katie Widdop.

Katie is a local resident who has established a glowing reputation, not only as a leading instrumentalist, but also as a world authority on the diverse forms of the harp and their construction, which has led her to build many of her own instruments and even resurrecting the multi-string harp that dates back to ancient Ethiopia.

Mezzo-Soprano Jasmine Colgan.

Jasmine was born in Haworth and studied music at the Royal Northern College of Music. Her repertoire covers a wide range of Opera, Lieder, Oratorio, and Art Song and she has a growing reputation both here and abroad where she has performed with the Den Jyske Opera Company in Denmark and at the Holocaust Memorial performance both in the Czech Republic and Leeds.

Pianist Matthew Johnson

Matthew is Jasmine’s accompanist also studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. In addition to working with Jasmine, he also pursues a solo career where he has performed works by Victor Poltoratsy, Benjamin Britten and Jean Francaix.

Sospiri Quintet – Giacomo’s Muse

The excellent Sospiri Wind Quintet has joined forces with Haworth resident Philip Henderson, composer of the West End musical The Far Pavilions and the Henderson/ Macari fantasy opera Giacomo’s Muse that had its world premiere in the U.S.A in June 2023, to commemorate the centenary of Puccini’s passing.

Sospiri is joined by Chilean operatic soprano Valentina Diaz who has captivated audiences on major international stages with her remarkable talent. Together they present ‘The Brontes – a Musical Portrait’ of six poems set to music by Philip Henderson.

Atmospheric and beautiful, this musical portrait pays homage to the genius of Anne, Charlotte and Emily Bronte and to their brother Branwell.
