About this Event
This lecture-concert covers the history of the U.S. Navy from its early origins, through the American Revolution and the War of 1812; with songs from both the Union and Confederate Navies during the Civil War; songs of the Spanish-American War; and both World Wars. The 20th-century songs cover destroyers, submarines, carriers, and other modern warships. The program is rounded out with contemporary songs from merchant sailing and nautical instrumentals. Selected songs are accompanied by fiddle, banjo, and other instruments.
