About this Event
Join award winning artist, Alleyn Yasskin on a 2-Day journey to explore layering techniques for use in mixed media. You will learn, create and use unusual materials to explore and express fresh ideas in your work.
This workshop will focus on a variety of techniques using acrylic paints, mediums and papers to create a mixed media art piece. We will create and layer collage papers and acrylic paints and mediums creating depth and interest with the process. By introducing the principles and elements of design into the compositions you will learn how to see them as useful “tools not rules” to enhance the impact of your art.
There will be plenty of time to create "hands on". The teacher will guide you step by step, encouraging you to bring your senses and feelings into the process, and to “think out of the box”. Subject matter will be up to the participant with their choice of abstract, realism or a combination of both.
Schedule:
Day 1: We will create papers for mixed media collage using acrylic paints and mediums, stencils, stamps and mark making tools. We will use papers students already have and add to the fun by making our own in class. I will introduce design principles and elements to consider in starting the art. The students will apply paint and texture on a substrate such as canvas, board or heavy gessoed papers.
Day 2: We will continue to work on the project with help and instruction from the teacher. There will be time at the end of the class to evaluate and discuss our work.
