A Mirror by Sam HolcroftDirector Čelik loves art. The right sort of art. But he doesn’t know in a dictatorship that art can be a radical act.
A playwright who can’t tell a lie, in a country full of lies.
Mr Čelik, Director of the Censorship Bureau, loves art (the right kind of art, obviously). And yes, the government insists on approving all art to make sure its suitable for the people, but that’s for their own good. Čelik helps artists make suitable art. He’s a hero, when you think about it.
But when he meets a young writer who can’t tell a lie, Čelik and all those around him will discover – none of them are who they think they are…
Ronin Theatre returns to the OFS after sell-out performances of Young Marx and The Watsons, with Sam Holcroft’s witty, powerful and mischievous drama about truth, censorship, and the power of hope.
