In a world of high tempos, faced-paced living and instant gratification, the need for pockets of unhurried sound in relaxed environments has become a necessity.
A Love From Outer Kingsland aspires to pay homage to Sean Johnston and the late, great Andrew Weatherall. Their club night and mix series, A Love From Outer Space showcased their passion for the slower sound, slinging “slow building atmospherics and a sense of graceful, determined sleaze”, ALFOS has garnered a cult following around the world.
In the heart of bustling Kingsland is an oasis of shady greenery tucked neatly into an unassuming corner of New North Road. Providing a variety of delicious refreshments and an atmosphere of relaxed contentment to accompany your journey into sound, this is the place to be on 14 June. Join us for a Sunday session that will allow you to cast off the hurriedness of city life and slink into a leisurely afternoon of sonic beatitude in one of Auckland’s best kept secrets. We’re here to wind you down, not up.
Manisah is a Tāmaki Makaurau based DJ who is on the rise. Capable of playing everything from downtempo house to blistering techno, she holds a groove and knows how to have fun with it. One half of the Beatboard crew, Manisah is making waves and we’re looking forward to her opening set on the day.
Sneeky is a Hawke’s Bay selector who can play anything. From spinning soul and funk on vinyl on a sunny afternoon, to mixing tunes alongside a live sax player, from back to backs at festivals across the country to laying stonking tech, Sneeky has it covered. We’re are super stoked to have her up for the weekend, she is definitely one to check if you haven’t already.
Cyril Orson has spent most of his life dedicated to incredible sound with a career that spans decades and has taken him around the world. You’re just as likely to catch him laying prime-time techno as you are to see him slink into the deep and dusty sounds of summer. Cyril is a world class act, and the anchor for this event.
A Love From Outer Kingsland is a free event, we would love for you join us from 2pm and indulge an afternoon of relaxation and good times. We can’t wait to share this afternoon with you all.
