In a world of high tempos, faced-paced living and instant gratification, the need for pockets of unhurried sound in relaxed environments has become a necessity.
A Love From Outer Kingsland aspires to pay homage to Sean Johnston and the late, great Andrew Weatherall. Their club night and mix series, A Love From Outer Space showcased their passion for the slower sound, slinging “slow building atmospherics and a sense of graceful, determined sleaze”, ALFOS has garnered a cult following around the world.
In the heart of bustling Kingsland is an oasis of shady greenery tucked neatly into an unassuming corner of New North Road. Providing a variety of delicious refreshments and an atmosphere of relaxed contentment to accompany your journey into sound, this is the place to be on 19 October. Join us for a Sunday session that will allow you to cast off the hurriedness of city life and slink into a leisurely afternoon of sonic beatitude in one of Auckland’s best kept secrets. We’re here to wind you down, not up.
Tina Mairi started her DJ career with a 100 day challenge. Since then she has played events across NZ, and alongside some pretty big international names. Tina is a staple at many of Auckland’s club nights, and quite a few of Aotearoa’s favourite festivals. We are stoked to have her opening the day, and we suggest you get down there early so you don’t miss her.
Greg Churchill is a household name. Known for smashing up clubs and festivals with his stomping sound, producing cracking tunes and putting NZs underground house and techno scene on the world map, Greg is a world class musician. This time round he will be showcasing lower-slung sounds he doesn’t normally get a chance to play, and we are here for it.
Cyril Orson has spent most of his life dedicated to incredible sound with a career that spans decades and has taken him around the world. You’re just as likely to catch him laying prime-time techno as you are to see him slink into the deep and dusty sounds of summer. Cyril is a world class act, and the anchor for this event.
A Love From Outer Kingsland is a free event, we would love for you join us from 2pm and help us kick off this series in style. We can’t wait to share this afternoon with you all.
