A Lotus Pond Day Retreat (5)
Self-Study, Commitment & the Art of Surrender
led by Katie Beene

Sunday, December 13, 2026
Morning only: 9:30am-12pm · $60
Full day: 9:30am-3:30pm · $110
*45 min lunch break 12:00-12:45pm
Early bird through November 29: $50 morning only / $95 full day
Spend a day at Lotus Pond making space for practice, reflection, and shared inquiry.
The morning includes asana, pranayama, and meditation with time to move, connect with your breath, and settle into awareness.
Full-day participants will continue after lunch with journaling and discussion inspired by Yoga Sutra 2.1: tapas, svadhyaya, and Ishvara pranidhana. We’ll explore tapas as the steady effort and commitment that sustain practice; svadhyaya through self-reflection and the study of sacred teachings; and Ishvara pranidhana as devotion and surrender to Ishvara, often understood as God or a higher spiritual principle.
Together, we’ll consider: What do our patterns reveal? What helps us stay devoted to what matters, even when it becomes uncomfortable? And how can we act with care while releasing our grip on the outcome?
Choose the morning session or stay for the full day. For full-day attendance, bring a journal and your lunch.

Katie Beene is the owner of Lotus Pond Center for Yoga and Health and considers herself a lifelong student of yoga. She approaches teaching with humility and curiosity along with the understanding that there is always more to learn and to experience. She doesn't consider herself an expert at anything and instead she values the ongoing journey of asking questions and observing her yoga practice shift and grow over time. Her classes are taught in a mindful and intentional way, with an emphasis on presence, physical alignment, prāṇāyāma, and meditation. Katie encourages students to pay attention to the details of their experience and to expand their understanding of what yoga is. She believes yoga is not limited to postures or something that only happens inside a classroom. It's a practice that can teach us how we breathe, move, and respond to life as it is, while also helping us orient to what is most important to us and what inspires us. Katie often weaves her observations and experience from the nature into her teaching. She enjoys working with students of different ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience through group classes and personalized 1-1 sessions. Her intention is to create a warm and supportive space where students can explore yoga with curiosity and compassion.
