Creators, makers, quilters and tinkerers of all kinds - you'll want to check this out!Long before World War I, generations of crafters had been creating for a greater purpose: be it recording their stories in time, supporting the betterment of their communities, or mobilizing for a larger cause. That legacy persisted through the early 20th century with wartime souvenir tchotchkes, ersatz clothing and Red Cross knitting circles, and continues today with artists like acclaimed quilter and social justice activist NedRa Bonds.
Join us for a joint presentation and meeting of the Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group exploring Bonds’s incredible portfolio. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a complimentary handcraft activity facilitated by Bonds, and are welcome to stay after the presentation for the rest of the meeting.
Hosted in partnership with the Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group and in conjunction with the quarterly program series "Makers Social."
