Brilliantly inventive and endlessly engaging, Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra takes listeners on a tour of the ensemble, revealing how the personality of each instrument and their respective families contribute to the symphonic sound.
Marshall Gilkes’ Trombone Concerto blends classical form with the energy of jazz, funk, and modern groove, showcasing the trombone’s surprising agility, lyrical warmth, and bold virtuosity.
Béla Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, a 20th-century masterpiece that treats the entire ensemble as a soloist, bursts with rhythmic drive, folk-inspired melodies, and luscious orchestration—giving every section a moment to shine!
