A Jockey Club Celebration at Mammoth Music & Arts Fest

Schedule

Sun Sep 29 2024 at 01:00 pm

Location

The Southgate House Revival | Newport, KY

It’s a long way from Lumpkin County, Georgia to the then mean streets of Newport, Kentucky. The legendary Jockey Club’s punk rock legacy was born when Hallman Mincey, known to his friends as “Shorty,” and his brother Hayne “Tiny” Mincey became the owners of the faded Flamingo casino at 633 York Street.
In celebration of Newport’s rich punk and alternative music history, visit the Southgate House Revival's Hofbräuhaus Lounge during the Mammoth Music & Arts Festival to help us honor Newport’s music legacy.
Beginning at 1:00 PM, our Jockey Club friends will have the opportunity to reminisce, share their experiences, and tell stories. PLUS get a sneak preview of the upcoming Aurore Press coffee table book, “It’s a Freakshow Ace: Punk Flyer Art for the Legendary Jockey Club 1982-1988” by Kelli Evans.
Not unlike the book, "Stories for Shorty: A Collection of Recollections from the Jockey Club 1982-1988", published in 2008, it's been an experience that couldn't be realized without our the people that were there. At Mammoth, you'll have the opportunity to pre-order your copy of the book while also helping us raise the funds needed to bring this amazing artifact to life. But it won't be without its perks. Everyone that pre-orders at Mammoth receives a Jockey Club swag bag as our thank you.
